Comprises of surgical ward with 8 beds, medical ward with 18 beds, side ward with 3 beds and isolation room with 4 beds.
All emergencies are attended to as they come after the statement – Theatre days are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for booked cases.
About the department
The Male Ward is located centrally, parallel to Female Ward and opposite to Paediatric Unit.
Staff
The staff consists of 1 Midwife, 5 RGNs, 5, PCNs, 7 Nurse Aides, 1 General Hand and sometimes Student Nurses.

Duty Room – that’s where we do report taking everyday Linen Room – where we store clean linen for both surgical ward and medical ward Sluice Room – where sluicing of soiled linen before sending them to laundry department, cleaning and disinfecting of bed pans and urinals Surgical Ward – where we admit surgical cases pre-operation and post operation. Theatre days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for booked cases all emergencies are attended to as they come. Medical Ward – where we admit general patients Isolation – that is where we nurse patients with infectious conditions e.g. TB suspects until confirmed. When confirmed positive, we refer to Driefontein hospital for further management
